HomeGoods & Pumpkin Cupcakes

My kids and I went to the opening of HomeGoods a few weekends ago.  Not the best idea in the world since half the town was there.  The line to the cash registers wound all the way around the store.  We looked around a little bit, but didn't stay long and there was no way I was waiting in those long lines.
I did get a chance to go back by myself, this past weekend, to pick up a few things.
I got these drinking glasses because I went through a spell where I seemed to be breaking a glass a week when I was washing dishes.  I figured since I'll be having Thanksgiving this year I better stock up on glasses.  These were a great deal, 24 glasses for $15.00.
I also got a new soap and lotion dispenser for the kitchen sink.

I couldn't resist this beautiful ceramic cake stand.  I have a thing for cake stands, and I loved the blue with the distressed details.

We thought it looked a little lonely though so, I whipped up a batch of pumpkin cupcakes that I always make around this time of year, using this recipe from Giada.

I skip the chocolate chips in mine, and just use the whole 15 ounce can of pumpkin and it works fine.  I frosted these with some store bought cream cheese frosting and sprinkled them with some cinnamon sugar.  They are quite delicious and make the whole house smell like fall.  This recipe is similar to the pumpkin spice cake Crystal at The Weekend Homemaker made.  I'm going to have to try her recipe out because it looks even more simple than this one.  So many pumpkin recipes, so little time.

What about you?  Have you done any shopping or baking lately?
