A cozy little spot,...

Let's head back to the cozy spot, shall we? (Seriously, does anyone really say, "shall" in real life)?
It's near the fireplace which makes it even more cozy.  Except the fireplace isn't working which makes it less cozy.  Confused?  Welcome to my world.  It's just one of the many things on my list of things that need fixing around here.  But, if we decide not to move then the fireplace will probably be coming out anyway so why bother to fix it until we've made that decision?
You might recognize the Nate Berkus pillow from Target.  I loved it when it first came out, and I knew it would be the perfect rustic glam accent for this chair in the fall and winter months.  I resisted though and waited until it was on clearance for half off.  Clearance + Pillows = Heaven.  The lovely afghan was crocheted by my Mom.  Martha Stewart has nothing on my Mom, except for a few dozen houses, a few million dollars and that dang felony conviction (you were framed Martha!).

Even if the fireplace isn't working, you can always just pretend that there's a rip roaring gas log fireplace insert fire raging right next to you, if that helps?  Who needs a rip roaring fire anyway when you've got Bocce to snuggle up with and keep you warm?
Ok, now onto the not so cozy little spot.  I was really hoping that with a four day weekend I could make some serious progress in the laundry room.  And, I could have, if I didn't have a horrible case of being completely unmotivated.  Last week, I was feeling wiped out by the stress of my job.  I needed to have some time to relax and not do much of anything, except watch movies with my kids and take Bocce on some walks.  Plus, I got into a ridiculous fight with one of my sisters (Which never happens, by the way, so I'm blaming it on stress.  But, it was all my fault, and I felt awful about the whole thing all weekend).  On top of it all, Olivia was sick with the cold that Jacob and I had a few weeks ago.  Are we having fun yet?
So, Saturday afternoon, I decided that I would feel even worse if I had a long weekend and didn't get anything accomplished in the laundry room.  I was still feeling unmotivated, but I dragged the washer, dryer and all of the laundry room crap, out into the living room.  I thought I was going to be able to get the room painted and get the new flooring in, but I had some snags with the flooring.  I did get the laundry room painted though.  I didn't see the point of putting the washer and dryer back in the laundry room, and then dragging them back out to do the flooring this Saturday.  Hopefully, Bocce won't go throwing up on my duvet in the middle of the night.  Wait.  Did I just jinx myself?

Jacob was fascinated by the back of the washing machine because he'd never seen one before.  What can I say?  My kids are easily entertained. ;)
I've read on some blogs how the bloggers are all, "Just enjoy the process of decorating your house."  I have to say, that I can usually enjoy the process when I can start something and then finish it, but when I start something and we have to live in chaos until it's done.  Well, that's not exactly our idea of fun and enjoyment.  Especially for me because clutter and having things out of place drives me nuts.  Maybe it will motivate me to get the flooring done this weekend so that I can restore some order to our living room.  Fingers crossed.

How was your weekend?  Hopefully, much better than mine. :)

  1. I love the gold stripe on the accent pillow! It gives it that extra pow! I completely understand the "unmotivated" part. I wanted to get the house together and put up the Halloween/Fall decor to get "festive" but Netflix just sucked me in with all those seasons of Tuders! There is always next week! :) Can't wait to see how the laundry room looks!

  2. Hi Ali! That's the thing with Netflix, if it's a series, I can't just watch one or two episodes. It's usually all or nothing.
